June is the month to celebrate Pride. That’s right Pride. It is celebrated globally to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City. Major cities in the U.S., including New York and Los Angeles held the first Pride march, in 1970 to mark the one-year anniversary of the uprising. It wasn’t until 1999 that it was recognized at the federal level in the United States.
Your community celebrates Pride by having parades and festivals. Millions of participants gather for marches, concerts, and community gatherings. The community also uses this month to be active and educate. You can learn about LGBTQ+ history as well as support advocacy organizations.
Are you interested in celebrating Pride, then check out these cities.
NYC Pride March: June 27-28, 2026
Chicago: June 20-21, 2026 and June 28, 2026
San Francisco: June 26-29, 2026
To the LGBTQ+ community, y’all are the most brave people in the world. I can only imagine how hard it can be to come out or be out, and not getting accepted. Stressing a lot, always being on defensive mode. Damn. I know that has to be hard. But y’all are STRONG.
When I was younger, I had friends that was either in my neighborhood or in adjacent neighborhood. They were the coolest kids ever. We all grew up to be cool adults, LOL. Now that I am an adult, I had boys and girls, that I grew up with. That was of the LGBTQ+ community but I didn’t know anything of it. I just knew that, he/she spoke different, he/she walked different. But I still didn’t see anything wrong with that, plus it was still considered wrong to be “different”.
Stop and think. When you was growing up did you have somebody that was different?
It’s a lot of people that did. We were never explained what that difference was. We were just told it was wrong.
Stop judging. You don’t have room to judge anybody, let that person live the way they want to.

Stay blessed, and always keep the faith. “Life Played Forward”!!
